Study confirms what many NYC drivers and passengers already knew
Anyone who has ever driven or been a passenger in a motor vehicle in New York City would likely agree that it’s a harrowing experience. New York City’s streets are plagued by congestion and discourteous drivers who readily and freely use their horns to let other drivers know when they’re in the wrong. But, is New Your City really the worst city in the U.S. for driving?
According to researchers at WalletHub.com, New York City ranked dead last out of 100 U.S. cities that were reviewed. Among the factors examined researchers looked at hours wasted in traffic, accident rates, car theft rates, availability of auto repair shops, gas prices and the average annual cost of maintaining a vehicle. While several cities in Texas and North Carolina were included as being among the 10 best cities for drivers, six of the bottom cities are located in the Northeast.
There’s no doubt that driving in New York City is not for the faint of heart and can be challenging. From distracted drivers to aggressive or reckless drivers, many of the driving and traffic-related problems faced by drivers in other cities are magnified in the New York City as densely populated neighborhoods with often poorly maintained roads are common.
Drivers or passengers who have been involved in a motor vehicle crash or collision may suffer injuries that are painful and debilitating in nature and that result in hundreds to thousands of dollars in costly medical and repair bills. In cases where another driver’s actions caused or contributed to an accident, it’s wise to consult with a personal injury attorney. By filing a personal injury lawsuit, injured parties may be able to recover compensation related to medical bills, vehicle repair costs, lost wages and disability.
